This 7-day safari will give you the best sightings in Uganda. You will experience amazing game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park, see the chimpanzees of Kibale National Park, encounter mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and have a game drive and morning nature walk in Lake Mburo National Park.
You will arrive in Entebbe before 1:00pm and meet our driver guide, who will transfer you to Kibale National Park. The Kibale National Park is popular for primates like chimpanzees, black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and L’Hoest’s monkeys, among others. You will arrive late afternoon or evening and check in at your accommodation.
Optional activities (at an extra cost) are available if you arrive in the early afternoon. For example, go on an excursion in the Bigodi Swamps to see a few primates and birds, visit a crater lake, visit the Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru Caves for cultural and historical insights, or take a walk to visit the Sempaya hot springs in Semuliki National Park.
Overnight: Kibale Forest Camp(Safari Tent)
You will go for chimpanzee tracking and enjoy a wonderful forest experience with these resident chimpanzees. These engaging apes are the closest species to human beings and are great to watch as they are playful both on the ground and in the trees. Next, you will have lunch and proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of Uganda’s most popular parks, offering many scenic game drives. In addition, the park has a wide variety of wild animals and over 600 bird species, incorporating various habitats ranging from savannah to wetlands and lowland forests. Later, we proceed to the lodge.
Overnight: Pumba Safari Cottages
Have an early morning game drive. This park has over 100 mammal species, including lion, hippo, buffalo, leopard, spotted hyena, elephant, and the elusive giant forest hog. You will also visit the salt lakes in Katwe before returning to the lodge. You will have a boat ride on the Kazinga Channel in the afternoon. This channel connects Lake George and Lake Edward. Here, you will have a chance to see different animals coming to the water and various bird species. You will enjoy an afternoon game drive after the boat ride in the park. Later, you will return to the lodge.
Overnight: Elephant Hab
Today, you will have an en-route visit to the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park, the Ishasha sector. This sector is known for its resident tree-climbing lions, a unique attraction in the park. You will have a brief game drive in search of these animals. We then drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Finally, we proceed to the lodge for check-in. In the evening, you will go to bed early so that you are well rested for a thrilling gorilla-tracking experience the next day.
The park is home to the largest population of mountain gorillas and hosts a variety of spectacular birds, including 23 of the 24 Albertine Rift endemic bird species. These bird species include the blue-throated broadbill, bar-tailed trogon, and other beautiful forest species.
Overnight: Gorilla Mist Camp
After an early breakfast, head to the park’s headquarters, where you will have an orientation and meet your tour guides for the day. Trekking the mountain gorilla is one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. The trek will take between 2 and 7 hours but is well worth the effort. An experienced ranger will guide you on the trek while giving you interesting facts about local flora and fauna and the lifestyle of the gorillas. The trekking is a thrill, although challenging, as you hike through the forest to the gorillas. Once you reach a gorilla family, you will have a chance to observe the family nearby for an hour. After that, we transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. This lake has 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water, making it almost magical. Proceed to the lodge, and once settled in, you will have a canoe boat ride on this beautiful lake and relax at the lodge.
Overnight: Bunyonyi Rock resort
Today, we drive to Lake Mburo National Park. The park forms a mosaic-like habitat with rocks, dry slopes, open and wooded savannahs, forests, and swamps. This diversity of habitats hosts a variety of birdlife, with 313 bird species recorded in the park. They include the flame-head barbet, long-tailed zitting cisticola (Tabora), African bins rail, collared barbet, and binding bush singer. You will have a game drive as you enter the park and see animals such as topi, impala, giraffe, eland, waterbuck, buffalo, and zebra.
Overnight: Rwakobo Rock
You will get up early today and embark on a morning guided nature walk and game drive before returning to the hotel for a hearty breakfast. Then, finally, drive back to Kampala, crossing the equator, and later drive to Entebbe International Airport to connect with your onward journey back home.
